Comments: My kids and I watched walls of flames come down toward our apartment building, so we took our pets and left. Some of our friends who watched the Santee firefighters come in and put the fire out said that they were great. The mayor of Santee said that we wouldn't lose any houses and we didn't. The Santee firefighters came in and did their job, then when to other places to help them. I want to thank them for doing a great job. I also want to thank SDG&E for getting our power on so fast, they helped us get our lifes back to normal. THANK YOU.

My heart was with every single one of the firefighters out on the line - and it continues to make my heart swell with pride when I remember just how important their jobs are. You all fought your hearts out and every single effort made a difference, no matter how small. Thank you and god bless you all - the jobs you have is one of the hardest around, and beleive me, I understand. Keep on keeping on...

Comments: I live in San Diego County and the firefighters are awesome. Some of their own homes were burned down while they were fighting for other homes. All the other firefighters that came from other cities and states, we thank you. The fire is about 65% contained, but about 2,300+ homes are gone. Everyone in San Diego County are affected by this fire. We saw it coming towards our home on 2 different occations, but the wind shifted and we didn't have to evacuate. Keep us in your prayers. Did KLove in Julian burn?

Comments: I do want to express my thanks to the people who are coming here and thanking them for their hard work. Everytime I talk to my boyfriend I ask him when he gets to come home and be with me, and everytime he tells me "When the people here arent in danger anymore". I have never been so proud of anyone before, and I want to thank those of you who appriciate what they are doing. He is so tired and wants to come home but in his heart he knows its not the thing to do. And to come on here and read peoples messages thanking all of them, its makes it easier for me to wait, because I know that he is helping people and that they actually appriciate him and all the other firefighters out there.

I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and God Bless

Comments: To the two men who are posting unwelcome messages on here. I only have one thing to say to you. I hope one day you are in need of a fire crew, maybe then you will give them the honor and respect that they deserve. They go into this field for the same reason people become police officers and doctors, to help people in need. And niether of you have any compassion or a soul by coming here and post messages putting them down. They are out there risking their lives day in and day out to help the people of So California. And you know what, I dont care what you have to say about them. I know them and respect them. I am waiting for the day when he gets to come home and be with me again.

Comments: Having gone through the Berkeley/Oakland Hills fire in 1991, I know firsthand how hard the men and women are working to contain the fires. Thank you for doing your job and saving the lives, homes and businesses threatened by the fires. Now...if only the home and businessowners would REALLY THANK YOU by supporting the firefighting efforts with tax dollars to buy equipment and provide enough personnel. This is especially pointed to the residents of San Diego County....where are your water-carrying helicoptors???...yours is the ONLY county that doesn't have proper fire fighting equipment because the voters have tied the hands of the county fire fighting agencies. If you want adequate protection, you have to pay for it! We learned that lesson in Berkeley/Oakland in 1991 but you chose to ignore our lesson. And now you're shocked. Good Grief.

Comments: It is sad for you people that believe that money is the only thing that drives these firefighters to save lives... Is your life worth a decent salary? As for being boneheads, you are a bonehead for thinking that they "landed" a job as a firefighter, it takes countless hours of training to become one, not the kind of training that you receive when you learn how to flip burgers. And besides if you are so against thanking the firefighters then why are you on this website? Or are you too dumb to read that this website is "thanks to the firefighters and support personnel" I hope your home is never in danger because I am sure your burger flipping training didn't cover saving your own life...And I want to appologize to the other kind people that are using this website correctly, this is not the website for anger and ignorance.

Comments: I will never forget the ride-a-long I did with the firefighters from El Mirage, Arizona. Their bravery and dedication cannot be underestimated. Firefighters unselfishly give their energy, enthusiasm, time and wisdom to work towards implementing a safe environment for the community. Although I only spent one day on a ride-a-long with them, I developed a deep appreciation and compassion of these public servants, who are in deed heroes. Their great sevice and loyalty to the community is demonstrated, as they unhesitatingly, risk their lives helping people in an assortment of dangerous situations. I highly admire you for how you make the world beautiful to live in.

Comments: I see the salary they make, so do uneducated checkers, cops, etc. The only difference is the firefighters, and cops and a few search and rescue (with no pay) are putting themselves in harms way. I know it is a job for them as it is for many others, the only difference, is they could get killed as one of them did. A can of hash has killed very few. Thank you too all of the firefighters, sheriff, police, and other volunteers that are helping us to be safer. For the others, sorry.

Comments: Dear Nick from San Bernardino, I was so angry at what you wrote about the firefighters and wanted to give you a piece of my mind. But then I stopped to think that this website was made to encourage the firefighters, so I am not going to tell you what I really think of you. But before you let your ugly mind and ugly heart write those cruel words you should have thought of the family of the firefighter who lost his life, the two firefighters that are fighting to stay alive, and the rest of the firefighting family. It seems to me that the only BONEHEAD is you. You did not even have the courage to write your full name. I hope you can sleep at night. As a sister of a firefighter I have been so moved by everyone that has written so many kind words to our heros. When you wrote all these wonderful letters to our firefighters you have also encouraged everyone that is in the family of these firefighters. This is what makes our country so special. We must ignore all the Nicks of this world. I hope I have not insulted anyone that feel that this should not have been put on this website. But it hurt to see the ignorance of Nick. Thank you all again, and my God Bless America always! Firefighter sister feeling much better! (EV)

Comments: For all of those firefighters who were out there facing impossible odds, with too few resources to help, you kicked ass! Don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise. I have the utmost respect and admiration for what you did here in San Diego County, and elsewhere throughout So.Cal. As for JM and Nick, you boys need to check yourselves. Firefighters ARE educated individuals. They attend an academic academy that involves both classroom lecture and field work. They may not hold 'typical' degrees (BS/BA, MS/MA, etc.) once they graduate, but they do have an Associates degree in Fire Science. So...Who's the educated one(s) now? By the way, those men and women who wear the uniform of a firefighter aren't paid ENOUGH!

Comments: Dear Firefighters! I was filling up with gasoline today and a gentleman in line in front of me was saying that he lived in the country Estates in Ramona. His house was spared but not some of his close neighbors. He told how he stayed at his house to hose it down in a effort to save it. A fireman told him to leave and that he was stupid to be risking his life. The mans response to the fireman was "no - that the fireman was the stupid one, for being there putting out the fire to his house when the fireman's was probably burning down." When the man said that - i was shocked and appalled. How ungreatful!!! This fire fighter was risking his life and home to save those of others! To the men and women who worked so hard for us - thank you and god bless! Words could never express our gratitude. The Bell Family - San Diego

I served as a volunteer fireman for 13 years in the state of Illinois and I do know that these brave individuals put them selves in harms way to save lives and property everyday. Comments: JM-I dont think you have any ground to stand on when it comes to talking about a firefighter. My boyfriend is currently down south fighting the Paradise fire. And if you for one moment think that these firefighter only get paid well because their job is dangerous and they have no education you are wrong. Just like any job you are skilled in different areas, I would like for one min to see you out there fighting those fires. I bet you would have no idea what to do, yes it is dangerous, but it is the education that they have that keeps them alive!!!! I am honestly disgusted but the message you wrote. Before you open your mouth and put down firefighter, especially on this website, try walking in their shoes for just an hour. And they didnt not become heros over night. Every firefighter is a hero from the time they take the job title. They work hard long hours to protect everyone in the area they are assigned to. Maybe you would understand that if you had the heart and compassion to do this job. ALL FIREFIGHTER AND POLICE OFFICERS
